This Ottens edition represents the scarce 7th state of the Allard map recorded by Burden (#373), however it is later and not as scarce as the Allard edition. - The Dutch Ottens firm of publishers assembled their atlases to order, the maps were often published separately like this copy, which was included in the private collection of a European aristocratic family.

Most important, detailed and rare German immigration map after the larger Hunt/Randel map of 1839, from a pamphlet published in Augsburg to induce emigration to Texas, probably by Braunfels ca. 1841 [21402] 39 x 30 cm. Uncoloured. Borders extended (remargined). Excellent condition. £1250 The title translates as: ‘Map of Texas Compiled from Surveys on Record in the General Land Office of the Republic, to the Year 1839’. Of particular interest are the indications of the land grants with which the German Adelsverein was involved (Fischer et Comp. / Bourgeois D’Orvanne).

Two years later, the map was redrawn for the second edition.
